I'm a planetarian in the United States and a friend of Patty Seaton. I have a project that I am working on that you might find interesting. I'm bringing a digital planetarium to Kenya. This will be the first for Kenya and I believe the first for East Africa.
The projection system is a Digtialis Alpha 2+ donated by the Perot Museum in Dallas, Texas. The dome is donated by Leo Planetaria from Delhi, India. Digitalis is donating a hardware upgrade. I have a great team of astronomy educators in Kenya who will run the project. I'm just raising the funds to transport the equipment and train the staff.
I am specifically writing to you because I know there are many Italian tourists who go to the coast in Kenya. My wife studies monkeys and has a project near Malindi where there is an Italian satellite launching facility.
Could you please pass along this information to anyone of the Italian planetaria who might be interested? Maybe some would like to donate a bit toward the project or maybe in the future some educators from Italy could come down to Kenya to guest teach?
